Background:

Miranda Libertus is a freed slave from a foreign land. She was trained to fight in order to entertain her former masters, now she uses her sword to defend the weak and smite the wicked. When not lending her sword to a just cause, she lives the gladiator's life, because it is the only life she really knows. She made a brief attempt at the monastic life, but soon grew restless, and found her sisters at the monestary tiresome. Now she travels from city to city, fighting endlessly in arena after arena while searching for the greater battle she believes she was born to win. For what other purpose could she have been born? Balthazar would not have made her what she is if not for such a purpose, of that she is certain. Her most holy duty to the gods is to make herself into the greatest weapon she can be in their hands.
