I get a lot of positive feedback on the fora I frequent regarding my signatures. Since so many people seem interested, and I noticed while I was updating my website today that I have every signature I've used (and a few I never did) still saved in the sigs directory, I figured I ought to drop an index page here and let people see how my signatures have evolved over time. So, without further ado, the sigs:
My signature on The Guild Hall:
Blah blah blah. __________________ ![]()
My signature on Guild Wars Guru:
Blah blah blah. __________________ ![]()
My signature on the Beguine Guild fora:
Blah blah blah.
![]() |
First sig ever (used on The Guild Hall):
Blah blah blah. __________________ ![]()
Updated after BWE3 in January:
Blah blah blah. __________________ ![]()
Updated again:
Blah blah blah. __________________ ![]()
Starting to play with using game UI elements; also, I wasn't happy with the increasing height of my previous sigs, so I reversed that trend:
Blah blah blah. __________________ ![]()
My first animated signature, much smaller than previous sigs due to seeing and becoming jealous of the Beguine Guild sigs (done by Indagatrix), which were as good if not better than all the other sigs on The Guild Hall while weighing in at a mere 288x108. This is what clued me in to the fact that anyone can make a huge sig look great, but real talent is doing great things with a small area. But to get all four of my characters into a signature of similarly small size, I needed to animate it.
Blah blah blah. __________________ ![]()
Quickly updated to improve name area:
Blah blah blah. __________________ ![]()
I used the previous sig for quite a while, but I wasn't happy with the compass being in the bottom right, and when someone else made the same comment to me, I started trying to move it to the left. I also decided to add class icons:
Blah blah blah. __________________ ![]()
Finally moved the compass to the upper left, and added game UI background for the class icons:
Blah blah blah. __________________ ![]()
Added quotes for each of the characters, and moved the class icons out of the grey UI element that I found ugly. The length of the quotes necessitated a bigger sig, but I made sure it only really got wider, and not taller than 108 pixels. (I now consider Inda's 108 my hard height limit, but width I don't sweat so much. Incidently, Indagatrix is also to blame for my desire to add quotes to my sig.)
Blah blah blah. __________________ ![]()
Frames were flipping too fast to read the quotes, plus the transition frames were making the file huge, so I slowed the rate of character flips, and made new transition frames that cut the file size in half:
Blah blah blah. __________________ ![]()
Experimented with a new format for even more character text, but the file size was just way too huge, and I wasn't happy with the height, either. It was after seeing this monstrosity that I finally made 108 my hard limit -- never again will I make taller sigs, they're just too gaudy. If I revisit this idea in the future, I'll trim it down:
Blah blah blah. __________________ ![]()
When I arrived on the Guild Wars Guru fora, I noticed that we were allowed graphical signatures, but they didn't seem to be used as much, and those that I did see were much smaller on average than on The Guild Hall. I decided I needed a new sig that would be much thinner than my usual ones, and chose to try to fit into the classic 468x60 banner size (my latest ones are even smaller than that). So here were my first three, which I made simultaneously, then decided to use the third one:
Blah blah blah. __________________ ![]()
Blah blah blah. __________________ ![]()
Blah blah blah. __________________ ![]()
Ever see those videos where everything is black and white except for some particular element? I thought that would be cool, so I created a couple of new sigs based on that idea, and used the second of the two:
Blah blah blah. __________________ ![]()
Blah blah blah. __________________ ![]()
Finally split the sig into two parts, the text and the character box, as well as cut the size down further (only 54 pixels tall! Half my usual 108).
